Inacraft 2010, Jakarta

Today we spent 6 hours of our precious sunday at Inacraft. Basically it is the biggest yearly Indonesian handycraft fair in Jakarta which involves hundreds of vendors from all over Indonesia. During that glorious 6 hours we practiced the art of walking thru crazy crowds in zig-zag patterns, screening thru merchandise in a lighting speed, navigating thru giant maze of vendors, juggling with shopping bags and haggling for the best possible price. The results: a $30 yellow phyton snakeskin wallet from bali, 3 embroidered linen fans at $3 each from Surabaya, and 2 stingray man's wallet I bought for gifts at $15 each from Jogja. This is a way to support the local businesses. God I love this country!

Bisazza & Swarovski Mosaic

Pictures Via NotCot

My two favorite product brands Bisazza & Swarovski collaborated on a pixel art product/ mosaics. After the launch of Bisazza's 24K gold tiles some years ago, I think this blinged crystal tile product is definately appropriate for them. I've specified both brands on my past projects, and I can't wait until this head turning mosaic hits Jakarta. This collection is definately glam glam glam!

Happy Easter!!!! & Bon Anniv DOMISILIUM STUDIO!!!

Picture via weheartit.com
Easter meant so much more for us than just what it is. Last year around the same time as today, I wrote our very first contract for our maiden project in Jakarta. We actually forgot when was the exact anniversary date of our firm. From what I remember is that we were heading back home from meeting with our first client at a winebar (Social House). We even haven't christened our firm with any name, we need to identify ourself with something isn't it? I was actualy tempted to call ourselves the DYNAMIC DUO, because we are partners in crime!!! (Hamphrey as the Batman and I the Robin) but no, we need something more professional and classier than that! So... in the car, half tipsy (no we did not drink n drive, luckily Hamphrey's driver drove us that night) and trying to think something smart at the same time, we think...and think and think (it's hard to think straight when we are a little tipsy) and then VOILA we came up with DOMISILIUM STUDIO. It literally means home, or the place where we originated in Latin language. Well to think about it, we had to gave up everything that we had in America to come back home where we came from to be with our family and having to start a new life. So, Easter would make a good sense as our anniversary date, it symbolizes a new beginning, rebirth and growth. So here it is Happy Easter and Happy 1st Anniversary to Domisilium Studio! It's been a fun journey with lots of hard work we promised ourselves to keep growing. heeeppp heeppp hurraaahhh!!! Here's to us!! *clink clink*

Tokujin Yoshioka

All pictures via Tokujin Yoshioka web

I had to come up with a new design concept for an exciting project, so I spent the whole day daydreaming today. I do this routine as a way to get that "light bulb" moment. While I was minding my own business, out of nowhere, I stumbled upon Tokujin Yoshioka. He is an incredible dreamer with his own vision of "Design without a form". His ideas are so simple and pure, it is a hybrid of art and design. From all of his work, this Swarovski store in Ginza is one of my favorites. hmmm...I guess I'm just gonna keep dreaming for now.....oups I mean work work work...
