Rainbow Church by Tokujin Yoshioka

Can you imagine having to have a mass inside this Rainbow Church? Look at those beautiful crystals arranged such way to create fascinating light spectrum inside the church interior. I'm pretty sure my ADD will strike, instead of listening to the sermon I will be all fascinated by it. A simple idea but utterly GORGEOUS!!

Snowflake Instalation for Kartell by Tokujin Yoshioka

Pictures via Dezeen

Kartell Showroom in Milan was designed by Tokujin Yoshioka for 2010 Salone. Yoshioka is an Uber purist kind of guy, which is one of the dying breeds in design world. This immpressive arrangement of transparent plastic sticks were formed to create modern snowflake shapes.
This is the quote from the master himself, "I am drawn by things that do not have forms but leave emotional effect to people. At a glance, such material is invisible and its existence is erased. Through the interaction with light, however, the form suddenly emerges. I am fascinated not only with such phenomena, but also elements that can stir and stimulate our imagination. I also like the idea of light, which is the form of design itself." Read more...

Symbiotic Green Wall

Picture via Inhabitat

Instead of typical OSB ugly plastered wall on construction site, why not make something pleasing for passersby to look at. Plus, this is a great opportunity to create a green environment in an urban setting. This Symbiotic Green Wall is the lovechild of by Kooho Jung & Hayeon Kelly Choi.

Tokujin Yoshioka

All pictures via Tokujin Yoshioka web

I had to come up with a new design concept for an exciting project, so I spent the whole day daydreaming today. I do this routine as a way to get that "light bulb" moment. While I was minding my own business, out of nowhere, I stumbled upon Tokujin Yoshioka. He is an incredible dreamer with his own vision of "Design without a form". His ideas are so simple and pure, it is a hybrid of art and design. From all of his work, this Swarovski store in Ginza is one of my favorites. hmmm...I guess I'm just gonna keep dreaming for now.....oups I mean work work work...

Calatrava Blues

Pics by 181st Child/ Domisilium Studio
These pictures was taken when I was still in design school. Me and a friend went to Milwaukee to see Milwaukee Art Museum for a research on Santiago Calatrava's work. It was for Advance Detailing class we HAD to take. I remember very very well that class. I also remember how cute it was to have a crush on some rockstar Architect like Calatrava. I still find him pretty hot now hehehe.....Today I have this nostalgic feeling about when I was a student. I was a dreamer, full of energy, life and hungry for knowledge. Everything you see seems to be very cool. My eyes were so easy to please. Now, we are all in professional world and we tend to forgot those excitements. I always look at this picture whenever I'm in need for some "jolt" of life. I love the blue colors on these pictures, even thou the original building was all white, but anyhoooo....this is a perfect memory I want to preserve. I have to be young and alive at heart no matter what. Don't we all need to feel that way Dahhliinngsss??? Ahh...I need to purchase some more potions, these dark circles are bugging me. Toodles!

Happy Weekend!! Inspiring Video for Thinking Out of The BOX!

White Box from makoto yabuki on Vimeo.

I found this video while I was reseaching for my coming projects. It gave me shivers and lifted-up my spirit. A good reminder why I wanted to be a designer. The beauty is in the process and how we put all loose ideas together as a cohesive design. I love my job. Thank you Makoto Yabuki! Your work is very invigorating with beautiful smooth illustrations. Bravo!

Tea House by A1 Architects-Prague

All pics Via archdaily.com
Adorable teahouse by A1 Architects. This 3,75 sqm structure was designed as an escape space from day-to-day hectic moments, hanging out with a couple of friends sharing ideas and a cup of tea, surrounded by cherry blossoms and apple trees. A place where time passed at it's own pace. Hmmm...that sounds so divine!!! This might be a great idea for an adult version of a treehouse! Read and see more here.

Manolo Blahnik Store in Dubai by DNA

Pics Via Data Nature
Alright people, we might think that just because Kristina Blahnik has a DNA connection with Manolo (he is her uncle) then she got to do all of his stores. Well, first of all, I love her her firm's name DNA (no pun intended), abbreviation from Data Nature Associate. Her and her partner Nicholas Leith-Smith are using scientific datas from the nature as basic concept for their project. Pretty neat eh? I love the picture where they utilize the beehive partition as part of the merchandising display. Also I'm liking the clusters of Tom Dixon's pendants collection (Stout and beat) they use for this Dubai store, they resembles the bees. Pstt.... I am currently using these pendants too for my current project. Just a coincidence, I swear! Ooohh.....Great minds thinks alike ;)

Hedgehog Building by Moxon Architects

Images Via Travel With Frank Gehry

The Hedgehog building by UK based Moxon Architects. Location: Preston, Lancashire, North West of England. They called the "spikes" as fins, which not only used for aesthetic reason but also serve as protection from the sun and rain. Life is so funny. I had similar idea for one of my restaurant project to create this "hedgehog" look. But I was going to be using chopsticks for the "spikes"and it was going to be for ceiling application. After a really long-deep-thinking, we decided to nixed the idea and went with something else. But I loooooovveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee how this building look, expecially it looks slightly different it depends where you are standing. To read and see more photos for this project click here.

Taipei Performing Arts Center Building Proposal- NL Architects

Images Via Laissez Faire
I love the purity if this proposed design submitted by NL Architects for Taipei Performing Arts Building. I can imagine myself standing the middle of the plaza observing at my surrounding as if the interaction between the visitors and the building interior as a performance. It would be fun too looking at the building elevator going up and down from the exterior. Even thou at the end OMA won the project, I still think NL's proposal is more poetic and has a better concept serving it's purpose as a performing arts building. AND PREETIER TOOO!!!! Sorry Kolhaas this time your design doesn't do anything to me. In my opinion OMA's building proposal looks way too stubby and clumsy looking...hmmpphh.... See more of the beautiful NL Architects proposal here.

Armani New Concept Store, 5th Avenue, NY

Just opened last week, 18th February located at NY's famous 5th Avenue. This daring Armani store concept offers Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans, EA7, Armani Casa and Giorgio Armani Beauty, Bar and Restaurant as well as exclusive products from both Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani. Prior to the opening of the US store, Armani opened identical store concept in Hong Kong and Tokyo. All were designed by the same Award Winning Italian firm, Fuksas. Shanghai will be the next home for this similar concept, scheduled to be open in 2010 (a little bird told me). With current economy situation, this is a very balsy move. Yes, this concept store worked in Asia because Armani's biggest market is in Japan and China since the early 90's. Most stores in 5th Avenue are actually loosing money, even during pre-recession time because of sky-rocketing rental fees. Not trying to be pesimistic, maybe this store was planned as a "monument-store". Yep...it is "Big Face" to have a flagship in the legendary 5th Avenue just like what everybody does. Well then it is time to "rub elbows" with the likes of Vuitton, Prada, Bendel, etc. Anyway...... Look at at the insanely beautiful staircase pictures below. It is more like a work of art rather than just a staircase. Bravo Fuksas!! Read more story here.
